REHOBOTH, 08 AUG (NAMPA) – A swift act by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Force and Mariental Security led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man on Wednesday for the alleged theft of N.dollars 10 000 from his employer in Mariental on Tuesday.

NamPol’s crime investigations coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay told Nampa on Thursday that the suspect was arrested in Kalkrand while in public transport.

“It is alleged that on Tuesday, the suspect who was a cashier at Charney Spar Supermarket, cashed up as usual on the close of business and Wednesday morning the manager realised that the suspect did not turn up for work and when they open his money bag which was cashed up the previous day, it was then discovered that the amount to the value of N.dollars 10169.15 was missing,” Clay said.

Clay said the matter was then reported to NamPol, which acted swiftly to look for the suspect.
The whole amount was recovered and the suspect is set to appear at the Mariental Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
