KEETMANSHOOP, 08 AUG (NAMPA) - The office of the //Kharas region Governor said its investment conference that was schedule to take place in September this year will only take place next year due to a lack of funds.
The conference, aimed at creating a platform for the sharing of ideas on promoting the region as an investment location and promoting private and public projects that are ready for investment, is being spearheaded by the Office of the Governor.
Speaking at the Economic Stream Workshop here on Wednesday the governor’s personal assistant, Lukas Shekwaanyena said the conference will have to take place in June or July 2020.
Shekwaanyena said the working committee that was established in March this year to organise the event is now looking for funds for the conference.
“When the conference was set to take place, there were no funds available or direct commitment of funds so now we have identified possible funders that we need to approach to secure funds for the conference,” he said.
The two-day Economic Stream Workshop brings the //Kharas regional council and the Northern Cape Provincial Government of the Republic of South Africa together to update possible stakeholders on development affairs between the two counterparts as part of the twinning part of a twinning agreement signed between the two areas on 14 September 1999, to look at economic development opportunities, safety and security and improve education and culture tolerance.
