OSHAKATI, 06 AUG (NAMPA) – Assistant coordinator of the Supplementary Registration of Voters in the Oshana Region, Tusnelde Shivute, said the provisional voters’ roll will be displayed for scrutiny at all constituencies throughout the region from 02-06 September.
This follows the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) Supplementary Registration of Voters exercise, which took place countrywide between 08 and 27 July.
Addressing the Oshana ECN stakeholders’ post-mortem consultative meeting at Oshakati on Tuesday, Shivute pointed out that various centres for the roll to be displayed have been identified in the constituencies.
The Oshana Region has 11 constituencies - Okaku, Okatana, Okatyali, Ompundja, Ondangwa Rural, Ondangwa Urban, Ongwediva, Oshakati East, Oshakati West, Uukwiyuushona and Uuvudhiya.
“Please let us inform the registered voters in our community to go and check whether their names are there in the voters roll and whether all their personal details are correct,” Shivute urged those who participated in the consultative meeting.
She noted that the public is privileged by being given a chance also to scrutinise the polling venues identified for the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly Elections, due to take place in November this year, and to suggest possible amendments.
The ECN managed to register more than 200 000 voters during the countrywide supplementary voters registration, to which the Oshana Region contributed over 22 000 voters.
