Six arrested for drugs over weekend

WINDHOEK, 05 AUG (NAMPA) – Five men and one woman were arrested for possession or dealing in cannabis between Friday and Sunday in the country.
The Namibian Police Force’s weekly crime report issued on Monday said a 34-year-old Angolan national was arrested after he was found in possession of cannabis worth N.dollars 220 000 at Okuryangava around 14h00 on Saturday and police investigation continues.
In a similar incident, a man was arrested after he was caught walking at Donkerhoek in Khorixas around midnight with a plastic bag which contained a parcel of cannabis and a shoe box with 11 ‘balies’ of cannabis, however the value could not be determined because it was not weighed yet by Sunday.
In Otjimbingwe, a 32-year-old woman and 26-year-old man were arrested for dealing in 250 grams of cannabis valued at N.dollars 2 500 on Friday at about 10h15.
Two other arrests took place in Stampriet on Friday.
In the first incident, a 28-year-old man was arrested for possession of four ‘balies’ of cannabis and four quarters of mandrax tablets valued at N.dollars 200 at the Gochas road at around 22h00.
Another man, 32, was arrested on the same road around at 21h55 for having two ‘balies’ of cannabis and a quarter mandrax tablet valued at N.dollars 50.
