Mayweather wins Top Score Oshiwana Tournament

ONGWEDIVA, 05 AUG (NAMPA) – Mayweather Trading Football Club (FC) was crowned the champion of the first ever Top Score 7-a-side Oshiwana (community) Tournament which ended at Embandu Stadium near Oshakati on Sunday.
Mayweather won the tournament after beating DT Muti FC 1-0 in the final encounter. The club’s captain, Jackson Hango scored the only goal of the match.
As champion, Mayweather scooped the top prize of a floating trophy, gold medals and N.dollars 15 000, while runners-up DT Muti received silver medals and N.dollars 7 000.
Epangelo FC came third place after defeating Oshikuku Young Star also with a solitary goal in the play-off encounter.
The club walked away with bronze medals and N.dollars 3 000. Namib Mills, through its Top Score brand, sponsored the tournament to the tune of N.dollars 200 000.
A total 47 teams participated in the tournament, which kicked off on Friday.
“The aim of the event is to encourage people to use this social event to get together, build friendships and to get to know each other,” Namib Mills’ senior brand manager, Marne Bouwer, said in a speech read on her behalf during the launch of the tournament last week.
