WINDHOEK, 05 AUG (NAMPA) – The Brave Warriors advanced to the second round of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers after an unimpressive goalless draw at home against Comoros on Sunday.
The senior national football team, who had nothing to show the masses who came to cheer them on at the Sam Nujoma Stadium, advanced to the next round of the competition due to their 2-0 aggregate score line from their win against the island nation on 26 July.
Coach Bobby Samaria said he was happy with his team’s performance despite them missing some crucial scoring chances.
“We played tactical football today and I am happy that the boys followed instructions. The only issue we had was our final ball that was not perfect,” said Samaria.
Namibia will now take on Madagascar in their final round of the qualification between 20 September and 18 October 2019. The winner of these home and away matches will reach the finals of the 2020 CHAN that will be hosted in Ethiopia.
Besides the CHAN qualifiers, the Brave Warriors will also prepare for their clash with Eritrea for the 2022 International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) World Cup preliminaries between 02 and 10 September 2019. The first match of the qualifiers will take place away in Eritrea.
