ODIBO, 04 AUG (NAMPA) – The Anglican Church in Namibia on Sunday inaugurated an administrative block worth N.dollars 500 000 at its ST. Mary’s Odibo centre in the Ohangwena Region.
The idea of constructing the office building came about in 2016 after the church community realised that the old office built many years ago has become outdated and contributed to the funding of the project.
It consist of offices for the bishop, priest and secretary as well as a strong room, community hall with modern toilet facilities.
Retired Arch-Bishop of the Anglican Church in Namibia, Shihala Hamupembe, who officiated at the inauguration wished the office to be free of social evils.
The priest of the congregation, Anna Nghifitikeko, told Nampa at the end of the inauguration event that the office is still to be provided with administrative facilities such as computers and internet connection.
“We will continue with the development of this centre and are planning to construct a house for the priest, because the old one is too small and not fit for a big family,” she said.
The headman of Odibo village and Minister of Safety and Security, Charles Namoloh, were the patrons of the construction project.
