Man found dead in canal at Omusati

WINDHOEK, 02 AUG (NAMPA) – A man from Omakuku village in Omusati Region was found dead in the canal near Onambelela in the early hours of Friday, the Namibian Police Force has confirmed.
Speaking to Nampa on Friday, Warrant Officer Anna Kunga from NamPol’s public relations office in the region said the man of unknown age was found dead around 07h45 by a passer-by.
She said the deceased was last seen alive Thursday night at his home village.
“He is suspected to have drowned in the canal during the night,” Kunga said.
No foul play is suspected.
The name of the deceased is withheld as his next of kin are yet to be informed of his death.
Police investigations continue.
