Okahandja pensioner allegedly stabbed by her son

OTJIWARONGO, 31 JUL (NAMPA) – A 60-year-old woman was on Tuesday seriously injured when she was allegedly stabbed by her youngest son at Farm Friedenau plot number six outside Okahandja.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Wednesday the woman sustained serious injuries and was transferred to the Katutura Intermediate Hospital in Windhoek.
According to Mbeha, eyewitnesses told the police the 20-year-old suspect allegedly hit his mother before retrieving a spear from their house, which he then allegedly used to stab her five times.
“The woman survived. We are still determining the cause of the attack,” she said.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident on a charge of attempted murder and was expected to appear in the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Police investigations continue.
