Woman allegedly buries new-born baby alive

OSHIKUKU, 30 JUL (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Omusati Region on Monday arrested a 38-year-old woman for allegedly killing her new-born baby boy by burying him alive.
Warrant Officer Anna Kunga of the NamPol’s Public Relations Unit in the region confirmed the arrest to Nampa on Tuesday, saying the suspect is yet to appear in the Okahao Magistrate’s Court.
According to Kunga, the incident occurred at around 01h00 at Ongongolwa village in the Omusati Region’s Tsandi Constituency on Saturday.
“It is alleged that the suspect, who is working as a domestic worker, gave birth to a baby boy, tightly wrapped the boy in a plastic bag, went in the fence yard and buried the baby,” said Kunga.
She added that the body was exhumed by dogs and it was discovered on Monday at around 07h00.
Police investigations into the matter continue and the identity of the suspect is withheld pending her court appearance, which was scheduled for Tuesday.
