OTJIWARONGO, 26 JUL (NAMPA) - A 39-year-old Angolan man was Thursday night arrested at a mobile police roadblock outside Outjo for the alleged possession of cannabis.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in an interview with Nampa on Friday said the suspect was travelling in a branded taxi from Otjiwarongo to Outjo at the time of his arrest.
She said the taxi was randomly stopped and searched at the roadblock some four kilometres southwest of Outjo around 21h00 on Thursday.
“We then found 17 parcels of cannabis with an estimated street value of N.dollars 78 000 stashed in the vehicle and the suspect was arrested,” said Mbeha, adding that the drugs were also confiscated.
The suspect will appear in the Outjo Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of possession or dealing in cannabis.
