REHOBOTH, 23 JUL (NAMPA) – Professional boxer Julius Indongo through Dowally Promotions will host the first ever premium boxing series between October 2019 and February 2020.
The event will bring together eight of the country’s boxers in different weight divisions to square off at selected venues across Namibia.
Indongo in a media statement issued here Monday explained that a random draw will be conducted under the auspices of the Namibia Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board to determine which boxers face each other in the series.
He said the competition in the designated weight class will run as a single elimination, where the winners of the first round will advance to the second stage of the competition, followed by a semi-final and then a final.
“No boxer will be sanctioned to contend in the series while having scheduled fights with other promoters throughout the duration of the series,” he pointed out.
The winners of the premium boxing series will walk away with N.dollars 30 000 and the Julius Indongo floating trophy, with the first round winners to receive N.dollars 4 000 each, while the losers will receive N.dollars 3 000 each.
The semi-final winners will receive N.dollars 8 000 each, while the losers will receive N.dollars 6 000 each, with the loser in the final receiving N.dollars 10 000.
The event forms part of Indongo’s corporate social responsibility initiative.
