Oshikunde wins 'Sport for Environment' tournament

OKATOPE, 23 JUL (NAMPA) - Oshikunde Combined School was declared the overall champions of the Sport for Environment tournament held for the first time at Mandume Ndemufayo Primary School at Okatope over the weekend.
Oshikunde reached the final after beating Mandume Ndemufayo Primary School 3-0 in the semi-finals, while in the other semi-final, Eembidi Combined School defeated Oumbada Primary School 4-3 on penalties after a zero-all stalemate.
Eembidi was expelled and disqualified from the tournament after cheating so Oshikunde were the eventual winners, said one of the tournament organisers, Edward Kapewasha, during the prize-giving event on Sunday.
Oumbada and Mandume Ndemufayo were in second and third position, respectively.
As the champion, Oshikunde scooped the top prize of 15 gold medals, a floating trophy and N.dollars 3 000.
Oshikunde was also declared the most disciplined team of the tournament. Oumbada, as the runners up, took home 15 silver medals and N.dollars 2 000, while host Mandume Ndemufayo received the third prize of 15 bronze medals and N.dollars 1 000.
In the netball category played on a round robin basis, Weyulu Primary School was declared the winner after collecting 15 points overall. They received gold medals, a floating trophy and N.dollar 1 500.
Ndapona Primary School, as the runners up in the netball category, received silver medals and N.dollars 1 000, while Oshikunde in the third place took home bronze medals and N.dollars 800.
