WINDHOEK, 12 JUL (NAMPA) – Primary and secondary School principals from the Khomas Region are set to hold the second regional principals’ conference under the theme “Changing perspectives and approaches in contemporary Education” between 18 and 19 July.

In a media statement issued on Friday by the conference's planning committee, the principals will discuss matters such as forging a collegial relationship between primary and secondary schools, strategic leadership in schools, the role of art, sports and trade unions in contemporary education.

The conference will also discuss the topic of school maintenance and imaging, the physical and emotional well-being of educators and learners, as well as mechanisms and strategies which enhances the acceleration of the implementation of education policies at regional level.

“This conference comes at a time when the country is going through both financial and academic challenges. There is a need for heads of schools and stakeholders to re-convene and decide on how to appropriately position the education sector amidst these challenges,” said Robert Dishena, Principal of Mandume Primary school.

The conference is a partnership between the Khomas Regional Council: Directorate of Education, the Windhoek Primary Schools Head Teachers’ Association and the Windhoek Secondary Schools Principals’ Association.
