Collision outside Okahandja claims two lives

OTJIWARONGO, 12 JUL (NAMPA) – Two people on Thursday morning died instantly on the Gross Barmen-Okahandja road after the sedan they were travelling in collided head-on with a pick-up truck.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Thursday that the crash occurred at about 09h30.
Mbeha said the deceased were identified Thursday afternoon as 26-year-old Ndahangelao Wanghede, who was the driver of the sedan, and passenger Angelina Sem, 25.
“At approximately 10 kilometres south of Okahandja, their sedan collided head-on with the pick-up and they died on the spot,” Mbeha said.
The police officer said the 50-year-old driver of the truck survived the accident with minor injuries.
A culpable homicide docket has been opened in connection with the incident at the Okahandja Police Station.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
