WINDHOEK, 11 JUL (NAMPA) – Namibia National Student Organisation (NANSO) have become a member of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY), an international non-governmental organization that caters to youth movements worldwide, which is also recognized by the United Nations.
This was confirmed by NANSO President, Ester Simon, in an interview with Nampa on Thursday, who said it is an achievement for the movement to be part of the largest youth organisation that also has a few other African youth movements under its wing.
“It is a big achievement for us to finally be a member of the world’s biggest youth organisation. We are second in Namibia after the Swapo Party Youth League. They also have some African youth movements that are affiliated to them like in South Africa,” said Simon.
NANSO Secretary of Politics and International Affairs, Ester Shitana, who facilitated the application process said, NANSO applied for the membership opportunity towards the end of last year and the application was approved earlier this month after NANSO met all the requirements.
She added that Namibian students can look forward to opportunities from this membership including the opportunity for some of them to attend the annual WFDY World Forum.
