OTJIWARONGO, 08 JUL (NAMPA) - The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN)’s 2019 supplementary voter registration process kicked off on Monday morning in the Otjozondjupa Region.
ECN’s Otjozondjupa Coordinator, Laimi Onesmus, in an interview with Nampa on Monday said she is satisfied with the first day of the registration process in the region as new applicants are coming to the centres.
She said the registration exercise is set to run from 08 to 27 July 2019 countrywide with the purpose of issuing out voter cards to Namibians who turned 18 years after the last registration process, changed their surnames or lost their cards.
“I am therefore satisfied with the registration process. We slowly started today at all 467 points in the seven constituencies of the region,” said Onesmus.
A total of 170 registration officials, 18 technical experts and three coordinators are involved in the process that will run from 08h00 to 19h00 daily until the last day, she added.
Onesmus further urged residents of the region without voter cards to acquire theirs in order to enable them to participate in the national elections slated for November this year.
