Council of Traditional Leaders congratulates Witbooi as |Khowese Gaob

GIBEON, 07 JUL (NAMPA) – Vice Chairperson of the Council of Traditional Leaders, Gaob Immanuel |Gâseb said the |Khowese Traditional Authority is fortunate to have the new designated Gaob Hendrik Ismael Witbooi as the successor of late Gaob Hendrik Witbooi.
In a speech read on his behalf at the coronation of Ismael Witbooi on Saturday in Gibeon, |Gâseb said Witbooi has big shoes to fill by succeeding someone who served his community with passion during the difficult era of the liberation struggle.
“You are succeeding someone that was wise and a dedicated leader who advocated for peace and tranquillity among his traditional community. Your coronation and designation indeed mark a glorious day in the history of your community,” he added.
|Gâseb appealed to the |Khowese to rally behind their new leader by rendering him their full support in order to take the community on a new path of unity, peace and stability.
“The Council of Traditional Leaders pledges its full support and cooperation to you Gaob Witbooi. We look forward to welcoming you as a full member of the Council of Traditional Leaders in your capacity as Gaob of the |Khowese Traditional Authority,” he said.
The vice chairperson however added that the coronation comes at a time when traditional communities are confronted by notable challenges such as poverty, unemployment, inequality and severe drought that have a negative impact on the livelihood of communities.
“But we are confident that Gaob Witbooi will deal with such challenges in an inclusive, wise and participatory manner. May God continue to bestow His precious blessing upon you and all the people entrusted to your leadership,” |Gâseb concluded.
