KEETMANSHOOP, 02 JUL (NAMPA) – Police investigations in the case of a 21-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his friend to death at Keetmanshoop in February, are yet to be finalised.
The accused, Andriaan Vries, on Tuesday appeared before Assistant Magistrate Loretta Lansberg in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court, who postponed his case to 20 September for further police investigations.
Vries allegedly stabbed the 24-year-old Rayno Rooi in the chest in the Tseiblaagte residential area in the early hours of 01 February 2019. Rooi died instantly.
During his first court appearance on 04 February, Vries was denied bail because police investigations were at an early stage, because it was not in the interest of the administration of justice for bail to be granted and out of fear that he might interfere with State witnesses.
Vries was, however, granted bail of N.dollars 2 500 on 13 May after he brought forth a bail application.
During his first court appearance, he indicated that he would apply for legal aid and Percy McNally was assigned to represent the accused.
Marlon Adams represented the State.
