Man dies after being assaulted at Usakos

WINDHOEK, 01 JUL (NAMPA) – A 30-year-old man died after allegedly being assaulted at Usakos on Saturday.
The weekly crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force on Monday said the man, originally from Windhoek, had been in the company of a 43-year-old man at a bar.
He allegedly asked to use the older man’s cellphone and disappeared with it.
“The suspect allegedly searched for the victim and found him after some hours. He then attacked the victim by punching him and kicking him until he fell to the ground and died on the spot,” the crime report said.
The suspect has been arrested.
In a different incident, 10-year-old Joseph Uumati died after being struck on the head with an iron rod at Ondangwa.
Uumati and his 15-year-old friend were hunting when they spotted a bird.
The crime report said the suspect threw a small iron rod at the bird while Uumati at the same time ran towards the bird.
The iron rod struck Uumati on the right side of his head and he was taken to the Oshakati State Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 19h35.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Victor Xoagub died in Swakopmund on Sunday after being stabbed three times in the chest. It is alleged that he was involved in an altercation with someone who had accidentally bumped into him in Kuisebmond.
Xoagub’s next of kin have been informed. The suspect is known to the police but has not yet been arrested.
