SWAKOPMUND, 01 JUL (NAMPA) - A 16-year-old learner at Namib High School in Swakopmund allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at a playground with a swing rope.
A police report issued by Erongo Police Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, on Sunday stated that two younger girls discovered the body hanging from the swing poles on Sunday at about 12h51, they then notified their parents, who subsequently notified the police.
A suicide note, the contents of which were not revealed, was allegedly found in the deceaseds back pocket.
The deceaseds name is known but cannot be revealed as her next of kin, who were out of town at the time of the incident, have not yet been informed.
No foul play has been suspected and police investigations continue.
In a separate incident, an argument over a cellphone allegedly led to the death of a 30-year-old man at Spitzkoppe in the Usakos district on Saturday.
It is alleged that at about 16h00, the deceased identified as Rodney Job and the 43-year-old suspect were together at a local bar when the deceased reportedly requested to use the suspects cellphone, which he allegedly disappeared with, without the owners consent.
After looking to the deceased for some hours, the suspect reportedly started violently punching and kicking the deceased when he found him, leading to his death.
The deceased reportedly died on the spot and the suspect was arrested.
He is expected to appear in the Usakos Magistrates Court on Monday.
Police investigations continue.
Another murder case was reported in Walvis Bay after an 18-year-old man was reportedly stabbed to death at Vilakazi Lounge in Kuisebmund during the early hours of Sunday.
According to Iikuyu, the deceased and his friend were allegedly in the bar when an unknown man accidentally bumped into his friend but apologised for the incident.
It is further alleged that the deceased proceeded to confront the person who bumped into his friend, which then led to him involving two of his other friends who proceeded to stab the deceased with a sharp object in the chest.
The deceased was rushed to the Walvis Bay State Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The deceased has been identified as Victor Xoaxub.
His next of kin have been informed.
The suspects, who are known, have not yet been arrested.
