Otjiwarongo man shot and injured at bar

OTJIWARONGO, 30 JUN (NAMPA) - A 20-year-old man was allegedly shot at a bar in Otjiwarongo in the early hours of Sunday.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Sunday the victim was shot once in the abdomen around 01h30.
“The man sustained a serious injury and was in severe pain,” she said.
He was transported to the Katutura Intermediate Hospital in the capital shortly after the incident.
Mbeha said the police are still investigating the cause of the shooting. No arrest has been made yet and an attempted murder docket has been opened at the Otjiwarongo Police Station.
In a separate incident, a 36-year-old man was arrested around 17h00 on Saturday after he was allegedly found in possession of a live pangolin with an estimated street value of N.dollars 50 000 at Grootfontein.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court on a charge of possession or dealing in controlled wildlife products.
Police investigations in both matters continue.
