OUTJO, 29 JUN (NAMPA) - Two men, aged 22 and 27, were on Thursday night arrested for the alleged possession of cannabis on the Outjo-Otjiwarongo road, during a police operation.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in an interview with Nampa on Friday said the suspects were arrested during the Operation Kalahari Desert at a mobile police roadblock that was set on the Outjo-Otjiwarongo road at about 21h30 on Thursday, where people and vehicles were searched randomly.

“Their vehicle was also stopped and upon the search, we found several parcels of cannabis stashed in bags inside their vehicle and we arrested them,” Mbeha said.

The drugs, weighing over 186 grams and with an estimate street value of N.dollars 186 000, were also confiscated.

The two suspects are expected to appear in the Outjo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
