Top local racehorses shine in Aminuis

WINDHOEK, 24 JUN (NAMPA) – Race horses Eagle, Abod Ford, Okatenda, Von Trotha, Little Gipsy and Leeuloop won some main races and scooped the bigger prizes at the Harambee Horse Racing Club (HHRC) competition at Aminuis in the Omaheke Region on Saturday.
Abod Ford of Kanjanda Tjimbundu and Professor Supporters Club (PSC)’s Eagle won the main races of 2 000 meters (m) in the Thoroughbred and Nambred A divisions respectively, and each horse owner took home N.dollars 2 500 and a sheep.
HHRC’s Okatenda emerged victorious in the Legends 2 800m race, earning its owner N.dollars 2 500 and a sheep.
Among others sprints, Leeuloop from Okahandja Racing won the 1 600m Maiden division, while Little Gipsy from PSC won the 1 600m in the Thoroughbred maiden and Graduation category.
In addition, Okahandja Racing’s Bullet won the open race in the Thoroughbred 1 000m open race followed by Pin Pot and Warm Pack from Mouton Racing and De Waal Racing in second and third spots respectively.
Blou from the Katamelo family won the Nambred graduation 1 000m category, whereas Blou Market of Hauro Racing took the 1 800m in the same race.
Seasonal horse Von Trotha of Edison Kandjii scooped the first place in the Nambred A division 1 000m while Young Fire of Kanjanda Tjimbundu won the Nambred beginners 1 400m race.
Compressor jo Muramba came out of retirement to surprise many by coming second and third in the Nambred maiden 1 600m and Legends 2 800m races respectively.
The Harambee Social Club was formed in 2015 and is responsible for sporting activities as well as other social activities in the Aminuis area.
