Go out and win: Geingob

WINDHOEK, 23 JUN (NAMPA) – President Hage Geingob on Sunday wished the Namibian senior men’s national football team luck as they embark on their first match of the 2019 Total African Cup of Nations (AFCON) match against Morocco in Egypt.

In a press statement availed to Nampa on Sunday, Geingob, said the Brave Warriors, as the Namibian team is more affectionately known as, should go out and represent their country in an exemplary manner.

“I wish the players and the coaching staff the best of luck. As sporting ambassadors, conduct on and off the field must be exemplary. Brave Warriors, go out and win!” he expressed.

The President who is also the chairperson of the Southern Development Community (SADC) also extends support for all SADC teams that have qualified for the 32nd edition of AFCON finals.

The Namibian football team qualified for Africa’s biggest football showpiece for the third time, having participated first in 1998 and then again in 2008.

Namibia has been drawn in Group D alongside Ivory Coast, South Africa and Morocco.
