RUNDU, 21 JUN (NAMPA) – Vice President (VP) Nangolo Mbumba is expected to visit the Kavango East Region from next week Tuesday to Sunday before proceeding to the Kavango West Region on 01 July.
This will be his first official visit to the region since his appointed as VP by President Hage Geingob in February last year, Governor of the Kavango East Region Samuel Mbambo confirmed to Nampa on Thursday.
“The main aim is to familiarise himself with the region. The region is ready to receive him and to share with him what his office thinks is important and that of the president,” Mbambo said.
According to the governor, the VP will meet farmers, the regional leadership and visit places such as the Rundu abattoir that is not yet complete.
Mbumba will also visit the green schemes and meet with the various traditional authorities in the region.
“Since he is a leader not just of the country but that of the Swapo Party as well, he will meet with the regional leadership of the party too,” Mbambo noted.
During that meeting, he could be briefed about the political activities in Kavango East as the party is busy with the renewal of mandates before the national elections later this year.
“Maybe he would like to hear how far the region is with its renewal of mandate and we could also ask advice from him as the former party secretary general as there might be challenges in that regard,” Mbambo pointed out.
Governor of the Kavango West Region Sirkka Ausiku told Nampa on Friday that in her region, Mbumba will visit the Musese Green Scheme, Nkurenkuru Health Centre and regional official and political representatives among others.
