WINDHOEK, 20 JUN (NAMPA) –The Namibia National Labour Organisation (NANLO) and the People Organised Working for Economic Reality (Power), should not be mixed as the two are different from one another.
NANLO is a labour organisation while Power is a political party.
NANLO Tresurer, Joseph Garoeb, during a media briefing on Thursday, said the two bodies are led by the same leaders (Evaristus Kaaronda and himself) but are not the same.
“The organisations that we represent as leaders should not be mingled as the constitution of Namibia is clear when it comes to issues of affiliation and party representation,” he added.
NANLO is an umbrella body of the Mining Metal Maritime and Construction Workers Union, Solidarity Union and Namibia Civil Servants and Parastatals Union.
Also speaking at the event was Kaaronda, who said people can choose to join Power irrespective of their affiliation to NANLO.
The party, he added, will develop laws that advance Namibia’s industrial agenda to boost employment creation and youth development among other urgent interventions, before it is too late.
He explained that Power will transform the Namibian laws into prosperity, especially since the party is people-oriented.
“We cannot live our entire lives being followers of people driving political agendas that only benefit themselves, it is time we take a lead and transform our policies that are people oriented,” said Kaaronda.
The two leaders further promised that Power will reform the Namibian economy, including issues such as detaching Namibian dollar from the South African Rand because when the Rand depreciates, the economy is automatically affected.
“We are striving for the lost prosperity we all wanted to see,” concluded Kaaronda.
