Man allegedly kills girlfriend, injures mother

ONGWEDIVA, 17 JUN (NAMPA) – A 35-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death with a panga by her boyfriend at Okashopashopa village in the Omusati Region on Sunday.
The village is situated in the Etayi Constituency.
Inspector Linekela Shikongo of the Namibian Police Force’s Public Relations Unit in the region confirmed the incident to Nampa on Monday.
“She died on the spot,” Shikongo said, adding that the suspect used the same machete to attack the woman’s 72-year-old mother, who tried to intervene.
The older woman was seriously injured and was admitted to the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital in critical condition.
The suspect, who is due to appear in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, was charged with murder and attempted murder.
The deceased was identified as Hambeleleni Ndahafa Absalom.
Police investigations continue.
