OTJIWARONGO, 13 JUN (NAMPA) - A 47-year-old Zambian truck driver died instantly on Wednesday night after he allegedly lost control over a truck he was driving, causing it to overturn on a bridge near Otjiwarongo.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in an interview with Nampa on Thursday said the truck was transporting boxes of fish from Walvis Bay to Zambia.

The deceased’s close relatives are yet to be informed, Mbeha said.

The accident occurred at about 20h40 on Wednesday night, some 10 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo.

“It is still not yet established what caused the driver to lose control over the truck on a bridge,” Mbeha said.

Police investigations continue.
