Chinese embassy awards grants to //Kharas learners

KEETMANSHOOP, 12 JUN (NAMPA) – China’s Ambassador to Namibia, Zhang Yiming handed over study grants to 21 learners at Keetmanshoop on Tuesday.
Ten learners from Oosterheim Combined School and 11 learners from Keetmanshoop Junior Secondary School benefited from the grants, with each school receiving N.dollars 20 000.
“Education is no doubt crucial for the future generations of the country. An investment in education means an investment in the future,” Zhang said.
He commended the Namibian Government for investing in basic education, adding that learners should appreciate what the government is doing for them as in many other countries, governments do not invest much in education.
The ambassador urged the learners to study hard and aim high.
Also speaking was the Director of Education, Arts and Culture in the //Kharas Region, /Awebahe //Hoeseb, who thanked the Chinese embassy for identifying schools in the region to benefit from the grants.
“This support will enable schools to build a solid educational foundation for the learners that could make them excel in their further studies at vocational training institutions and institutions of higher learning,” he said.
