Nantu elects Mbangu as Kavango East chairperson

RUNDU, 10 JUN (NAMPA) – The Namibia National Teachers’ Union (Nantu) Kavango East regional executive leadership has elected Lukas Mbangu as the regional chairperson.
Nantu held their elective conference here last week to elect the union’s new regional leadership, Mbangu told Nampa on Monday.
Mbangu acted in the position from 2015 to 2019 and has now been elected to continue serving the region up to 2024.
From 2014 to date, Nantu handled 18 cases ranging from recovery of in-service bonus, underpayment, unfair transfer, examination scandals, over deductions as well as ghost teachers on the payroll, he recounted.
Other members elected are Petrus Alberth as deputy chairperson, whilst Theofilius Muyevu is secretary and Andreas Kandjeke his deputy.
Andreas Sinonge is the new treasurer while Valentinus Kamenye occupies the position of secretary for organisation. The secretary for information and publicity position went to Joseph Gideon, whereas Laura Johannes is the new coordinator for gender affairs.
The newly elected Nantu regional leadership will serve a five-year term.
