Two men arrested with cannabis worth N.dollars 456 000

RUNDU, 10 JUN (NAMPA) – Two Namibian men were arrested on Friday after they attempted to sell two large bags of cannabis to an undercover member of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) at Rundu.
NamPol spokesperson, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi in the crime report availed to the media on Monday, said the two were apprehended around 13h45 at a local guesthouse, where they tried to sell the drugs to the undercover cop.
She said the cannabis weighed about 45 600 kilogrammes and was estimated to have a street value of N.dollars 456 000.
The vehicle used to transport the cannabis was also impounded and police investigations in the matter continue, while the two suspects were expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
In a separate incident, a 29-year-old man died on the spot Sunday at Tondoro village near Nkurenkuru in the Kavango West Region, after losing control of the vehicle he was driving.
The deceased was identified as Jinas Mutuku Hausiku, 29, and his next of kin are informed.
Shikwambi said the incident occurred at about 01h25 and it is alleged that the unlicensed driver was travelling alone from Nkunda to Tondoro when he lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.
Police investigations continue.
