Four-year-old girl drowns in canal

WINDHOEK, 10 JUN (NAMPA) – A four-year-old girl drowned in a canal at Etunda village in the Ruacana Constituency around 16h30 on Saturday.
The weekly crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force on Monday said the girl and her younger sister were allegedly left home alone by their mother.
“It is alleged that the girl and her sister were seen playing next to the canal. It is believed she fell into the canal and drowned,” the crime report said.
In a separate incident in Windhoek, an 18-year-old girl gave birth to a baby boy in her room and allegedly dumped the baby in a nearby riverbed in Helen Street in Greenwell Matongo on Friday.
The incident occurred around 08h00, the police said, adding they managed to trace the girl and she was admitted to the Katutura State Hospital under police guard. Police investigations continue.
The police also reported that 33-year-old Eldon Fransman died on the spot after he was allegedly stabbed in the neck after an argument at Gibeon in the Hardap Region on Saturday.
The suspect was arrested and police investigations continue.
