WINDHOEK, 11 JAN (NAMPA) – An Okuryangava resident is suspected to have poisoned her four-year-old son before hanging herself in her home in Otjindombo Street here.
A relative discovered the woman’s corpse hanging dead inside a wardrobe earlier on Saturday afternoon. The boy was found dead on a bed.
The deceased woman was suspected to be pregnant.
When this agency arrived at the scene, a crowd of onlookers was gathered at the scene and the Namibian Police Force was still conducting investigations.
According to witnesses, there was a half eaten bowl of cereal found inside the house, which the mother might have laced with poison and fed to her son to kill him.
It is suspected that the alleged murder-suicide occurred before Friday.
A family member told Nampa that the woman and her son returned from the northern regions on Wednesday, but were not seen since.
The corpses were removed from the house and taken to the Windhoek Central Mortuary, where autopsies will be conducted.
The motive behind the murder-suicide is not yet known, as no suicide note was found on the scene.
