WINDHOEK, 05 JUN (NAMPA) – President Hage Geingob has authorised the N.dollars 60 billion for the financial requirements of the State for the financial year ending 31 March 2020 as charge to the State Revenue.
This is as per the National Budget for 2019/2020.
Geingob at the signing of the Appropriation Bill at State House on Wednesday said he could have pocket vetoed the bill, but that it was a very important bill.
“This is now the bill which will become the Appropriation Act. Government is now legally authorised to spend taxpayers’ money. I’m now going to sign it publicly so that you don’t say we are spending money illegally,” he noted.
The Head of State explained that the exact amount of N.dollars 60 000 145 530 was approved by Parliament to be spent by government ministries and agencies.
“I now have the pleasure to authorise by signing and ascending to this bill and make it a law,” he said.
After signing, Geingob stressed that the State should spend the money and account for it too.
“We are going to follow up and see how it is spent,” Geingob said.
Also present at the signing was Minister of Presidential Affairs, Ambassador Martin Andjaba and State House Executive Director, Ambassador Grace Ushona.
