Gobabis teenager allegedly assaulted in shack and raped

WINDHOEK, 03 JUN (NAMPA) – An 18-year-old girl was allegedly raped in the Kanaan informal settlement at Gobabis on Friday.
A crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force on Monday said the victim was reportedly sleeping in her room after she was brought home and locked inside by friends and family members following a night of drinking.
The suspect who was allegedly drinking with the victim returned around 23h00 and broke into the corrugated iron house and assaulted the victim, the police said.
“The victim tried to run to her parents’ house, but was caught and grabbed by the suspect who then allegedly had sexual intercourse with her by force on the ground,” it added.
The suspect ran away but was arrested and police investigations continue.
In a separate incident around 17h00 at Oshoopala in Oshakati the same day, a seven-year-old child was allegedly raped by a man who pulled her into his room and locked it.
No arrest has been made yet and investigations continue.
At Okahandja in the Nau-Aib area, a 23-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 23-year-old man between 19h00 and 22h00 on Friday.
The suspect was arrested and police investigations continue.
