Two injured in road accident near Rehoboth

REHOBOTH, 03 JUN (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in Rehoboth has opened a case of reckless and or negligent driving after a driver of a Volkswagen minibus lost control of the vehicle and it overturned, leaving two passengers seriously injured.
NamPol Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay told Nampa in an interview on Monday that the incident happened between 04h30 and 05h00 on Sunday on the gravel road between Oanob Resort and Rehoboth, approximately 5 kilometres from the town.
“It is alleged that the driver of a minibus with a Windhoek registration number, lost control of his vehicle and it left the road and overturned seriously injuring two of the seven passengers,” Clay said.
According to information at hand, the 33-year-old male driver allegedly initially ran away from the scene of the incident, but was later found.
Two passengers, identified as Jomarie Husselmann, 21, and Brooklyn Louw, 14, were both seriously injured and transferred to Windhoek Central Hospital for treatment.
