OTJIWARONGO, 03 JUN (NAMPA) - A 14-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide after she was found hanging from the roof of her sleeping room with a bed sheet around her neck in the Etoshapoort residential area at Outjo on Saturday night.

The Namibian Police Force’s Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Naukalemo Andreas in an interview with Nampa on Monday said the minor has been identified as Emily Nambinga.

The police officer said Nambinga was found hanging from the roof of her parents' house inside her sleeping room by a family member on Saturday night at about 22h30.

“We are still determining what might have led to the alleged suicide as the girl did not leave behind any suicide note,” Andreas said.

An inquest docket has been opened at the Outjo Police Station in connection with the incident.

Police investigations in the matter continue.
