WINDHOEK, 31 MAY (NAMPA) – The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA)’s Bureau of the Council has extended the mandate of the Namibian Football Association (NFA)'s Namibian Normalisation Committee to 15 October 2019.
According to a statement availed to the media by the Normalisation Committee’s Chairperson, Hilda Basson-Namundjebo, on Friday, the decision to extend their mandate was taken on 15 May 2019, after a recommendation from FIFA’s Member Association Committee, who deliberated on the matter during April.
“Broadly, the next phase will deliver the much-anticipated electoral congress, the normalisation of the first and second division leagues and the finalisation of a firm policy framework to ensure corporate governance principles are adhered to,” the statement added.
The Normalisation Committee was appointed in January to run the NFA’s daily affairs; ensure that the members of the NFA whose executive committees are out of mandate organise and conduct the relevant elections; and once elections have been held at member level, to organise and conduct elections of a new NFA Executive Committee.
