Man stabbed to death at Otavi

OTAVI, 31 MAY (NAMPA) – A 27-year-old man died instantly on Wednesday night after he was allegedly stabbed with a knife once in the chest by a 31-year-old man at Otavi.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha on Thursday told Nampa the deceased was identified by his close relatives as Chris Kasanga from the New Cairo informal settlement at the town.
“Kasanga was stabbed once in the left side of the chest and died on the spot. A knife suspected to have been used in the stabbing was found on the scene and confiscated by the police,” Mbeha said.
The deceased and the suspect allegedly had a quarrel leading to the stabbing at a house in Otavi at about 20h40 on Wednesday.
The suspect was arrested Thursday morning and is expected to appear in the Otavi Magistrate’s Court on Friday on a charge of murder.
Police investigations continue.
