Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle at Okahandja

OTJIWARONGO, 29 MAY (NAMPA) - A 24-year-old man died on Tuesday after he was hit by a pick-up on the B1 road near Five Rand informal settlement at Okahandja.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha told Nampa in an interview on Wednesday the deceased has been identified as Wedinge Immanuel.
Immanuel was a resident of the Five Rand informal settlement.
Mbeha said the accident occurred around 06h20 while Immanuel was trying to cross the road.
“He was hit by a pick-up driving from the direction of Windhoek to Okahandja,” Mbeha said.
A culpable homicide docket has been opened at the Okahandja Police Station against the 41-year-old driver of the pick-up.
The driver and his adult male passenger did not sustain any injuries.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
