REHOBOTH, 28 MAY (NAMPA) - A man arrested Saturday for the alleged double murder of a farm worker reported to have been his friend and a 20-year-old Rehoboth woman, made his first appearance in the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Lukas Kaskas Kashonga, 31, appeared in front of Magistrate Elvis Mwilima on two counts of murder and his case was postponed to 26 June 2019 for further investigations and for the accused’s legal aid application to be finalised.
It is alleged that the suspect, who is a farm worker at Gagubib, smashed the head of his 51-year-old friend with a big rock and he died on the scene.
The suspect then allegedly left for Rehoboth and allegedly stabbed his 20-year-old female friend in the chest with a knife around 15h00 in Rehoboth’s Block E residential area.
Kashonga was denied bail due to the fact investigations are at a preliminary stage, the likelihood of interference with investigations and possibility of accused absconding.
He is being detained at the Rehoboth Police Station's holding cells.
