REHOBOTH, 27 MAY (NAMPA) – A 31-year-old man was on Saturday arrested for the alleged double murder of a farm worker who is reported to be his friend, and a 20-year-old Rehoboth woman.
Namibian Police Force regional crime investigations coordinator for Hardap, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay told Nampa on Monday the deceased were identified as Hendrick Beukes and Daniella Swartbooi.
The first incident occurred at Farm Gagubib near Rehoboth, while the woman was stabbed in Block E.
“It is alleged that the suspect who is a farm worker at Gagubib, smashed the head of his 51-year-old friend who was farming at a neighbouring family farm with a big rock and he died on the scene. It is unknown at this stage what led to the killing,” Clay said.
The suspect then left for Rehoboth and it is alleged that on Saturday around 15h00 in Block E, he stabbed his 20-year-old lady friend in the chest with an Okapi knife. She reportedly ran some distance before falling at the spot where she was found dead.
The next of kin of the deceased have been informed.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
