RDP postpones third ordinary national convention

WINDHOEK, 09 MAY (NAMPA) – The National Executive Committee of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP), at its ordinary meeting held on Wedesday resolved to postpone its third ordinary national convention to the 01 and 02 June 2019.
According to a media statement issued by the party’s Secretary of Information and Publicity, Nghiningiluandubo Kashume, on Thursday, the party wants to give more time to about five regional branches to finish with their regional conferences.
He said national leaders assigned to Erongo, Kunene (South), Hardap, //Kharas and Khomas, will be expected to complete their regional conference by 25 May.
“The third ordinary National Convention scheduled for 10 to 12 May be postponed to 01 and 02 June 2019 to allow the above-mentioned regions to finish their conferences and give space to the party leadership to properly finalise the National Convention preparations,” said Kashume.
He added that the National Committee will convene again on 25 May to review the progress and finalise the master list for the National Convention delegates.
Kashume further added that the Central Committee will meet at the end of May to finalise the preparations for the National Convention to set rules and guidelines governing the proceedings of the convention.
“The Acting President, Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General play a leading role in the preparation of the National Convention,” concluded Kashume.
