NamPol seizes drugs worth nearly N.dollars 5.4 million

WINDHOEK, 06 MAY (NAMPA) - The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) seized drugs valued at nearly N.dollars 5.4 million in April.
Ninety-nine suspects were arrested in connection with the seizures, a media statement issued on Monday said.
“Of the arrested suspects, 88 are Namibian nationals, four Tanzanian, three Angolan, three Congolese and one South African,” it said.
Cannabis weighing 531 kilogrammes and valued at N.dollars 5 310 290 was confiscated, as were cannabis plants worth N.dollars 200.
The police also seized 418 mandrax tablets valued at N.dollars 50 160; 14 grams of cocaine powder worth N.dollars 7 000 and 82 units of crack cocaine worth N.dollars 8 200.
Forty packs of counterfeit cigarettes valued at N.dollars 8 000 were also confiscated.
