Gobabis man burns to death in shack

WINDHOEK, 29 APR (NAMPA) – A 37-year-old man on Friday burned to death while asleep in his shack in Gobabis in the Omaheke Region, after a suspect allegedly set the structure on fire.
The incident occurred between 22h00 to 23h00 at the Epako residential area.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said in a weekly crime report issued Monday that the suspect allegedly burned down the shack in which they both lived after they had an argument.
The deceased was identified as Paul Engelbrecht and his next of kin have been informed
The suspect has been arrested and police investigations continue.
In another incident, the lifeless body of Martin Metumo Ikukutu (age unknown) was found dumped by a passer-by along the gravel road between Bokomo and the Ndilimani farm near the Okahandja Park informal settlement on Saturday.
It is alleged that an unknown suspect or suspects suffocated the deceased by tying a wire around his neck. It is further alleged that the deceased was last seen alive at a party in Okuryangava on Friday with a lot of money on him.
His next of kin have been informed and the suspect(s) are not known at this stage.
In a different case on Friday at around 03h32, a 32-year-old man identified as Muronga Petrus Hafeni died after he was stabbed twice on the back and hit with a bottle at the back of the head by two suspects at Katjinakatji village in the Kavango West Region.
His next of kin were informed.
It is further alleged that the same suspects also stabbed another 33-year-old man, who sustained serious injuries, at the same village with the same knife.
Two suspects aged 19 and 23 were arrested in connection with both incidents and police investigation continues.
