MARIENTAL, 23 APR (NAMPA) – A 19-year-old man died on the spot after he was allegedly stabbed by a 27-year-old man at a farm near Gochas in the Hardap Region on Saturday.
Namibian Police Force crime investigations coordinator for Hardap, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay told Nampa on Monday the incident happened at Farm Rus en Vrede at about 18h30.
“It is alleged that the suspect, who is mute, stabbed the deceased with a sharp object on the left side of the chest and that he died on the spot,” Clay said.
He said it is not known at this stage what led to the stabbing.
The victim has been identified as Stoffel Nauseb and his next of kin have been informed of his death.
The suspect was arrested and police investigation continues.
In a separate incident in Rehoboth, a 19-year-old man was arrested for the attempted murder of another 19-year-old man in the early hours of Sunday.
Clay said the suspect allegedly entered the room of Joshlin Smith between 04h00 and 05h00 in Block B to look for his cap after they were drinking, and a fight erupted between the two of them.
The suspect, whose name is known but withheld until he appears in court, allegedly then with a panga cut the victim on the left side of his head.
Smith sustained serious injuries and was transferred to Windhoek Central Hospital in critical condition.
