Heartbreak for Khomas as Gamgoaseb sends Otjozondjupa into Newspaper Cup final

MARIENTAL, 22 APR (NAMPA) – A goal by livewire striker Samuel Gamgoaseb saw Otjozondjupa defeat Khomas 1-0 and storm into the finals of the Namibian Newspaper Cup, where they will face surprise package ||Kharas on Monday.
The Sunday match offered very little for both teams and saw them cancelling out each other in the middle of the park.
The first 10 minutes saw the two regions feeling each other out as both defences stood firm.
The match sprung to life in the 25th minute when Ulipianus Amseb missed a chance for Otjozondjupa.
A minute later Gamgoaseb saw his header deflected for a corner. However, nothing came of the resulting set piece.
In the 27th minute the Khomas defence were caught napping when Gamgoaseb let fly a ferocious shot that went in off the upright to send the Otjozondjupa bench into wild celebrations.
Just before half-time, a goalbound shot from Gamgoaseb was tipped over for a corner much to the delight of the Otjozondjupa supporters.
The first half ended 1-0 in favour of Otjozondjupa.
The second half saw both teams resorting to shots from distance as chances were few and far between, with Khomas offering no fight to try and get into the game.
With little action, the referee brought the game to an end and the Otjozondjupa bench ran on to the pitch to celebrate.
Gamgoaseb’s exploits saw him earn the title of man of the match.
Khomas will face Omaheke in the third/fourth place play-off on Monday.
