Newspaper Cup netball matches postponed as wind, rain cause havoc

MARIENTAL, 21 APR (NAMPA) – Erongo Region beat Otjozondjupa 19-14 in a netball match at the 2019 Namibian Newspaper Cup at the Mariental Sports Field on Saturday.
Both teams went into the break level at 7-7. Erongo then pulled clear of their opponents to win the match comfortably.
Mendjipe Kaveyako of Otjozondjupa was named woman of the match.
Meanwhile, Oshana Region beat Ohangwena 24-14 in a mini northern derby in the 2019 Namibian Newspaper Cup netball match in Mariental Saturday afternoon.
Oshana led their rivals 13-07 at half-time.
Woman of the match was won by Josephine Shilongo for the second time in one day.
Other matches saw Omaheke beat Karas 17-16, while Oshikoto lost to Kunene by 22-10.
Khomas beat Ohangwena 20-18 as Oshana overran Omusati 26-8 and Kavango East beat Zambezi by 27-07.
Kavango West beat Oshikoto 18-9, while Kunene beat Omaheke 16-14.
The rest of the netball fixtures were postponed to Sunday as strong winds and rain made it impossible for matches to be played.
