UNAM Choir stronger than ever: Pereko

WINDHOEK, 20 APR (NAMPA) The University of Namibia (UNAM) this past week celebrated the UNAM Choirs 20th anniversary, and launched its fifth album and first ever DVD at the campus here.
Speaking to Nampa, the choir conductor and director Bonnie Pereko said he has been with the choir since its establishment 20 years ago, and witnessed its transformation and growth.
I am so proud that we celebrate two decades of our unique choir, which consists of 70 students from different fields of study at our university, he said.
Pereko said compiling an album takes time and the addition of the DVD this year attests to the progress of the choir.
The album has 20 songs while the DVD consists of 29 items, and the choir focused mostly on African Namibian traditional songs.
UNAM Choir over the years competed in many competitions both locally and internationally and boasts a number of achievements and awards.
The fifth album is titled Dinaledi Di Ya Wela which in Setswana means the stars are rising.
The CD is available for N.dollars 100 and the DVD for N.dollars 150 at the UNAM Main Campus choir office.
